Interventional Cardiology


Dr. Tummala is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University and obtained his medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Barnes Hospital, Washington University Medical Center. Dr. Tummala completed his fellowships in general and interventional cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine. He is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease, and Interventional Cardiology. After serving as Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University, Dr. Tummala joined Northeast Georgia Heart Center and helped start the angioplasty and acute MI programs at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. He has served as medical director of the cardiac care unit (Ronnie Green Heart Center) since 2003, and has participated in several quality improvement committees at the hospital and in the clinics. He has authored numerous publications in the fields of vascular medicine and interventional cardiology and has been an active investigator in numerous clinical research trials involving new interventional devices such as stents and invasive heart monitors as well as investigational medications to treat acute and chronic heart disease. He has won teaching awards from former residents, and he continues to give lectures and updates in cardiology to community physicians and health care professionals.
